SHARE YOUR GIFT: "When You Share Your Gift, We All Win!" - brburns.com

Recently I attended the last High School basketball game of my Nephew/God Son. I sat in the stands looking on with pride, with the rest of my Family. As I listened to the Coaches, Parents of other Players, Fans, Students and of course My Family, all screaming my Nephew / God Son's name - "POOOOOOH!" - I smiled from behind the lense of my camera. It was obvious from the roar of the crowd, everytime he touched the basketball, that he was the "star" and the best player on the team. I watched as he traveled from one end of the court to the next, passing the ball to one of his teammates, each time he approached the goal. Almost everytime he made a pass to one of his teammates, it resulted in them making the shot, a shot that he could've easily made. This unselfish act by Pooh, would cause the other players to experience the roar of the crowd as well. Yes my Nephew / God Son also made several spectacular and highlight reel worthy shots and they won the game. After I left the game this dropped in my spirit, like one of his shots in the net: "When you SHARE your gift - WE ALL WIN!" At least, that's the way that I see it - but who knows, maybe it's just me! MONEY AIN'T EVERYTHANG! (Don't Let Money Be Your Motivation)

I was reading an article about Mr. Nguyen, the creator of the game "Flappy Birds" and his decision to take the game off of the market. Some reports say that the game was making the creator as much as $50,0000 A DAY! He stated that he decided to stop selling the game, because he "couldn't take it anymore" and he wanted his "simple life" back. How many times have we wished, dreamed and hoped that we could hit the lottery or get a 6 figure job or sell a Million Books (well, maybe that's just my dream - lol). Yes, all of these things would be nice, but none of these things can truly make you happy. As in the case of the "Flappy Birds" creator, it's just another reminder to us all, who are in the "pursuit of our happiness", whatever that pursit is, that MONEY CAN'T BUY YOU HAPPINESS. Happiness is a choice and it is not contingent on dollar signs. So I challenge myself and all who read these words - "Don't let MONEY, be your MOTIVATION!". At least, that's the way that I see it - but who knows, maybe it's just me! ORDER YOUR COPY TODAY!

YOU CAN WIN! (Don't Let Being Labeled A Long Shot, Stop You From Taking YOUR SHOT!)

The dictionary defines a LONG SHOT as an attempt or undertaking that offers much, but in which there is little chance for success. Congratulation's to The Seattle Seahawks WORLD CHAMPIONS! Prior to yesterday's game all of the odds and oddsmaker's, had the deck stacked against the Seahawks. Most of the pre-game interviews, with the Players on the Seahawks team, were preceeded by words like "underdog" and "4th or 5th round draft pick". Eventhough, they were considered a long shot to win the Super Bowl - THEY BELIEVED THAT THEY COULD and THEY DID! Russell Williams (Seattle's QB) stated that his whole life, he was told that he was not tall enough, big enough, fast enough or strong enough. The doubters told him not you, but his Father always told him "WHY NOT YOU!" This provided confirmation to me and something that I have always believed - I CAN! I AM! and I WILL WIN! Even, if other's or this world, tells you that you are not good enough, strong enough, talented enough or smart enough, etc... YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN GAVE YOU THE GIFTS AND HE IS SAYING - WHY NOT YOU! Don't let being labeled a long shot, STOP you from TAKING YOUR SHOT! At least, that's the way that I see it - but who knows, maybe it's just me! ORDER YOUR COPY TODAY!

"I HOPE YOU DANCE!" - (You only Fail when you don't try!)

I don’t get the opportunity to blog as much as I probably should or would like to, but I promise to do better. Every now and then, something happens that compels me to click on my keyboard and drop a few words in the spirits of those who take the time to read my ramblings. This is one of those occasions…. This weekend, I had the honor of accompanying my Mother to the funeral services of the Mother, of one of her good friends. After the formal program was completed, they displayed a video of the person whose life they were celebrating, on 2 giant Screens. In the video, she was dancing at her 90th birthday party. She would dance a while and then sit down and take a rest, and when the next song with come on, she would get back up and start to dance again. While the video was playing, a soloist grabbed the microphone and started singing – “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack. This has been one of my favorite songs, since the very first time that I heard it. As I sat there at the funeral, watching that video and listening to the words of that song, I began to reflect on my own life. I’ve released 3 CD’s, 2 Novels (My 3rd & 4th Coming Soon), done Several Stage Plays, a One Man Show, My Own Radio Show, drove around the country performing in hundreds of venues, had a guest spot on a National radio show for many years and I have written several articles for some online magazines. Everything may not have worked out the way that I wanted it too or the way that I planned it, but at least I “Danced” (TRIED). As I sit here typing these words, I’m preparing for the next song to come on, so I can get back up again and “Dance!” (TRY). In the intermission moments of your life, or the “in the meantime” periods, just think of those pauses as the DJ changing the record. You just utilize that time to take a quick rest (reorganize, reenergize, prepare, learn the lessons and get ready) and then when the next record comes on – “Dance!” (TRY). At least that's the way that I see it, but who knows, maybe it's just me! Until my keyboard clicks on again – Peace! I hope these words touch your spirit, like they have always touched mine...
I HOPE YOU DANCE by Lee Ann Womack: I hope you never lose your sense of wonder You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger May you never take one single breath for granted God forbid love ever leave you empty handed I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance I hope you dance I hope you dance I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance Never settle for the path of least resistance Livin' might mean takin' chances, but they're worth takin' Lovin' might be a mistake, but it's worth makin' Don't let some Hellbent heart leave you bitter When you come close to sellin' out, reconsider Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance I hope you dance I hope you dance

YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW IT!

I was sitting in my car the other day and this song came on, with a catchy hook - "YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW IT". After I listened intently to the song, it dawned on me, why I liked this song so much. We encounter hundreds of people everyday. They could be Doctor's, Lawyer's, Poets, Actors, Good People, Bad People - and we don't even know it. We never know who God has destined someone to be. That is why I treat EVERYONE, the way that I want to be treated. And just in case I am entertaining Angels and "don't even know it", they will be treated with respect and dignity. At least that's the way that I see it, but who knows, maybe it's just me!
