The journey to Jena started with a high school fight
And I’m not saying that it’s right to fight
But trying to give them time in the pen?
That’s only about the color of their skin

But, we see what happens when we stick together
They start dropping charges

Because they don’t want to see us get together
Every Preacher, Teacher, Athlete, Greek, Celebrity & Political figure
It’s time to stand-up and let the whole world hear ya

If you don’t stand for something
You will fall for anything
And fighting for what’s right
That’s how you let real freedom ring

Yes we can walk in through the front door
But the back of the bus mentality still exists
Prime example – ‘The Jena 6’

And even when they do turn them loose
We still can’t forget about the noose
Some heads need to roll and that’s the truth
An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth

There never should’ve even been a “white” tree
This is 2007 not 1963

There are no gray areas
It’s all black and white
Liberty and justice for all
And that’s why we gotta stand-up for what’s right

So Family the buses will roll
And the marchers will march
They’re only expecting 5,000 people
But tens of thousands of us will be carrying the torch!
